Gary Donaldson

Gary Donaldson, born in the early '50s in a North Shore town on Long Island, NY, USA which was established by a pair of my great grandfathers in 1668; First child of Stanley & Alma; siblings are Kenneth (a.k.a. "KBMan"; visit http://kbman.smugmug.com/), Brian and Cheryl. All of us are active snappers, and Cheryl has now gone 'pro' (visit http://www.cherylcaseyphotography.com/).

Lynda and I were married in 1977 in Norcross, GA. We met in '75 while we were both working for American Video (a cable TV company) in Pompano Beach, FL. Lynda brought two children into the marriage: David (now of Snellville, GA, and married to Tammy with two sons, Logan and Collin) and Heather (who was sadly lost to leukemia in May-88, at age 17). Daughter Erika (of Asheville, NC) was born in 1979, and her son Bryce was born in 2013. Lynda and I celebrated 30 years of marriage in 2007. We are 'empty nesters', except for sharing our Chestnut Mountain home -- dubbed 'Goodwood at Chestnut Mountain' -- with dog Freya and cat Little One. (Our Norwegian Elkhound Snowie passed in Jan-2015.)

I began career in cable telecommunications in summer of 1973 in Broward County, FL. After 30 years with cable system operators, I now work from home as a sales engineer with a Silcon Valley-based manufacturer of optical telecommunications equipment. In 2002 I was honored with SCTE's (Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers) Polaris Award.

I am a direct descendant of these notable Americans:

I became a lifelong fan of motorsports in 1973 after attending a CanAm race at Road Atlanta, shortly after the acquisition of my first car -- a 1968 BMW 2002 (as seen the the "Track Snaps" gallery). I have been an amateur motorsports photographer almost since then as well. I began participating in track events myself shortly after buying a 1995 BMW E36 M3 in spring of 1996 (the silver car in the 'Tracksnaps' photo gallery). I'm now active as an instructor with several car clubs, most notably BMW Car Club of America and National Auto Sport Association (NASA). I compete in NASA's Time Trials (TT) programme, and was Southeastern Region champion in Class C in 2007. I earned a provisional competition (race) license with NASA in Mar-09. I hope you enjoy these images.
